I will present ongoing preclinical research being developed at my laboratory using animal models of AD, and how different neuropathological and behavioral manifestations of AD can be alleviated in these models by genetically manipulating the p75 neurotrophin receptor, a transmembrane protein present in different classes of brain cells, including neurons. Unpublished results showing the effects of a novel small molecule targeting this receptor will also be presented.
