We added a new FACS instrument to our cell analysis service
Over 10 years ago, we established a cell analysis and sorting service at ACHUCARRO, which has since helped internal and external research groups, as well as companies, to develop this technique and incorporate it into their research projects. We identified the capabilities of the BD FACSJazz at the time, and that equipment has been making a significant contribution to this work.
This year, thanks to two grants—one from the Spanish State Research Agency (EQC2024-008638-P) and the other from the Basque Government’s Department of Science, Universities and Innovation (EC_2025_1_0016)—we have been able to acquire a new instrument that updates and strengthens our capabilities in this area. It is a BD FACS Discover S8, equipped with five lasers, which will allow us to perform more complex experiments more efficiently.
The new equipment will be up and running in early 2026, and as in the past, this service will be open to the research community of the Basque Country.
