This year 2026, the Diabla Teatro actors' group will perform the play “The Revenge of Don Mendo” in the Mitxelena auditorium at Bizkaia Aretoa, with the solidarity purpose of financing research projects on Parkinsons
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system that primarily affects movement. It occurs when nerve cells (neurons) in the brain do not produce enough dopamine, a neurotransmitter crucial for controlling muscle movements, stiffness, balance and coordination. Currently there are various treatments for this disease, but there is no cure.
Since 2025, Diabla Teatro and one of the people behind this group, Henar Parra, have been developing philanthropic and awareness-raising activities to raise awareness of the consequences of this disease and raise funding to continue advancing the knowledge of this neurological pathology that has a prevalence of more than 10 million people in the world. The incidence is between 8 to 18 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
United for this cause, ASPARBI (Parkinson Bizkaia Association), Diabla Teatro, Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience and EHU come together to commemorate this world day with a charity event that will also surely touch our hearts, because we will have musical performances by ASPARBI members, which will give way to the play “La Venganza de Don Mendo”.
