About me

Starting from a formation in psychobiology, I have been involved in Neuroscience research since 2001, when I joined the laboratory of Dr. Oscar Prospéro-García, the leading Mexican group devoted to studying the endocannabinoid system in the brain. There, I did my Bachelor’s Thesis and continued with my doctoral studies (2004-2009). During that period, in 2007, I had the opportunity to spend five months abroad in Liverpool, UK, in Professor Tim C. Kirkham’s laboratory, the first showing the appetite-stimulating properties of endocannabinoids. Finally, at the end of 2009, after being awarded the Fyssen Foundation fellowship, I started my postdoctoral research in the team of Giovanni Marsicano at the Neurocentre Magendie (Bordeaux), one of the most prestigious international environments for the study of endocannabinoid functions. Then, in 2018 I obtained a tenure-track research position (kindly hosted by Professor Pedro Grandes) thanks to the IKERBASQUE research fellowship (now Research Associate) at the Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience in the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. Here I am developing my research lines mainly focused on the cellular basis of behavioral processes (i.e., emotional and cognitive)
