Predoctoral position in “Synaptic Autophagy and Neurodegeneration”

The Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Neurobiology in Health and Disease is interested in recruiting a motivated candidate for applying to a predoctoral (R1) fellowship from the Basque Government, the Ministry of Education (FPU) or La Caixa Foundation. The PhD candidate will develop a PhD thesis at the Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience (ACHUCARRO) and the Department of Neuroscience of the University of the Basque Country EHU). The successful candidate will combine state of the art molecular techniques, human neuron cultures (including human induced pluripotent stem cells iPSCs), fluorescent biosensor, optogenetics, confocal, super resolution and 2photon microscopy to analyze how dysregulation of autophagy affects neurotransmission, animal behaviors and contributes to the onset of neurodegeneration in Parkinson disease models. The project is financed by PID2023-153022NB-I00 MCIN /AEI/10.13039/501100011033 / FEDER, EU. The lab has the possibility to offer the candidate a up to one year contract until the start of the fellowship.

Elegibility
  • High academic record above 7.5 (scale 0-10) to apply for regional, national and international calls
  • Graduate in Biomedical or Life sciences and related areas
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
