About me

I am a senior postdoctoral scientist specialised in molecular membrane biology and quantitative cell biology. With a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Geneva, I have acquired expertise through impactful roles at the MRC LMB in Cambridge, UK, and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. My research profile uniquely combines a solid foundation in molecular membrane biology with advanced skills in light and electron microscopy, particularly in electron tomography and correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM). My focus has been on unraveling the complexities of subcellular architecture and membrane dynamics, fields with deep implications for neurodegenerative diseases.

I now investigate the architecture and functionality of human glia cells in the context of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This transition is marked by my expertise in molecular membrane biology, organelle ultrastructure, and innovative microscopy techniques.

Euro-BioImaging, Basque Country Node
I am the scientific advisor at ACHUCARRO for the Bilbao Advanced Light Microscopy Node (ALM@BIO), a collaborative effort between the imaging platforms of the Instituto Biofisika (CSIC, UPV/EHU) and Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience. Our mission is to bolster biological and biomedical imaging capabilities within the Euro-Bioimaging community. Through fostering collaboration, ALM@BIO aims to provide opportunities for advancing scientific discoveries and promoting collaborative research.
