Optical  interrogation of neurodegenerative pathologies in the live mammalian brain

Jaime Grutzendler

Yale University (USA)

This talk will present data and methods for investigating in vivo the role of glia in neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, I will present novel insights Into protective functions of microglia that are regulated by the Alzheimer risk factor Trem2, and that could provide novel therapeutic targets. In addition, I will present novel methods for high-resolution in vivo imaging of myelinated axons during development and aging and that could be used for studying potential links between microglia dysfunction and myelin loss in aging and neurodegeneration
