PhD position in oligodendrocyte biology

We are willing to recruit a motivated candidate to cover an Early-Stage Research (ESR) position for developing a PhD thesis within the Laboratory of Neurobiology Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience (ACHUCARRO) . The project, entitled "Myelin plasticity as a tool to promote recovery", is financed by the Basque Government (PI_2016_1_0016). The selected candidate will use genetic tools to selectively stimulate oligodendrocytes and electrophysiology to measure the impact in brain function.

This PhD position involves joining a multidisciplinary team with a strong background in neuroscience and benefit from access to frontline technical resources, under the supervision of the Principal Investigators of the project: Dr. María Domercq and Dr. Carlos Matute.

The objective of this recruitment process is to prepare joint applications to studentships at regional, national and international calls.

Profile of candidates:
  • Excellent academic record (> 2.5)
  • A Masters' degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or a field related to the research project
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Previous experience in electrophysiology will be strongly evaluated as a merit
