PhD position for studying endocannabinoid system

We are willing to recruit a motivated candidate to cover an early researcher position for developing a PhD thesis within the Laboratory of Neurobiology Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience (ACHUCARRO) , for exploring the therapeutic potential of the endocannabinoid system in neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions with special emphasis in multiple sclerosis and fragile X syndrome.

Specifically, the selected candidate will make profit of transgenic mice, in vitro and in vivo systems, biochemical and immunohistochemical approaches to evaluate the physiopathological role of cannabinoid CB1 receptors in oligodendrocytes and myelin.

You will incorporate to a multidisciplinary team with a strong background in neuroscience and excellent success rate in PhD studentship applications. As member of the Laboratory of Neurobiology he/she will develop his/her experimental activity at the Department of Neurosciences of the UPV/EHU and ACHUCARRO. Our students benefit from access to frontline technical resources, weekly periodic research seminars, conferences by recognized experts and advanced training courses.

The objective of this recruitment process is to prepare joint applications to studentships at regional, national and international calls.

  • Excellent academic record (> 2.5)
  • A Masters' degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or a field related to the research project
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
